Obituary

Edwards, Bonnie age 82, March 26, 2024

Bonnie Sue Edwards (nee Smith) passed away Tuesday, March 26, 2024 after many years of poor health.

Bonnie was born in Columbus, Ohio, January 22, 1942, and grew up in the Clintonville neighborhood. She graduated from North High School, and was married in 1960. In the following years, she became the mother of three children, and moved to Kettering in the early 70s.

Bonnie was a devoted mother and homemaker. She was an excellent cook and scratch baker. She had a very green thumb, and always had beautiful plants in her bay window, and outdoors in her garden. She could name most anything that grew, be it a weed, tree, shrub or flower. She was active with many hobbies including sewing, crocheting, ceramics, and was a voracious reader. She was a great lover of animals of all kinds, and often nursed baby birds that fell out of the nest or bunnies that met with a predator. Pets were always a part of her home (to the delight of her children), cats, dogs, rabbits, fish, hermit crabs, mice, gerbils. She loved them all.

Bonnie married her second husband, Ed, in the mid 80s, and went back to school at Miami Jacobs college. She then went to work at Miami Valley hospital, until arthritis forced her to retire some 20 years later.

Bonnie leaves behind her dear husband, Ed Edwards, her daughter, Melissa Gordon, and son Michael (Michele) Gordon, and grandchildren Laurana and Logan Gordon, and faithful dog, Toby. She was preceded in death by her beloved son, David Gordon, her brother James F. Smith, sister in law Joyce Ann Smith, nephew Kevin Smith, and her parents, Maynard and Margaret Smith.

A memorial will be held at David’s Chapel, 4600 Mad River Road, Kettering Ohio 45429, on Friday, April 19 from 2:00 to 3:00 pm.
