WAYNE ELBERT ERTEL

JULY 3, 1939 JANUARY 14, 2026

Wayne Ertel, 86 of West Carrollton, OH (Formerly of Germantown)

Born at the family homestead Springboro Pike, Dayton (known as Cox Arboretum) to

Ora (Whitt) Ertel and Frank “Jack” Ertel.

Graduated in 1958, (from Germantown) and Married his High School Sweetheart Carol L (Tharp) Ertel in an elopement wedding with High School friends, Joan & Gene Wright.

Wayne and Carol were married 65 years.

Wayne was self-employed Excavator (Wayne E. Ertel Excavating) Germantown for 30 years. He loved camping in their motor home and loved Roller Skating. His favorite past time was his CB Radios. He’d talked for hours and all over the world, his CB handle was Backhoe. They took several trips on their Motorcycle with friends but really loved the trips they took to Branson Missouri. And Wayne LOVED music, especially gospel.

Wayne was a member of The Gratis Lions Club and held the office of President numerous times. Also, they sponsored many softball teams and supported our local School Yearbooks and programs. Wayne was a Volunteer Ambulance Driver for Gratis Rescue Squad. And was a Deacon in West Carrollton Baptist Church.

Preceded in death by his parents and his brother Irvin Wesley Patrick.

Survived by his two daughters: Lori (Sam) Bloodworth, Elizabeth City N.C. and

Lisa Ertel of Miamisburg, Ohio. Three Granddaughter’s: Brittney Mcgough (Josh Garrett) 4

Great Granddaughter, Avi & Mia Mcgough, Blakelyn & Presley Garrett. Of Aydlett N.C.

Lacy (Justin) Kauffman, Great Grandchildren Everly, Mac, Cole, Ross and Henry of Willow Wood, Ohio

Myriah (Morgan) Armstrong Great Grandsons Myles and Miller. Mt. Sterling, OH., a sister Cindy (Roger) Martin of Tennessee and many nieces and nephews.

Burial with Graveside Services will be on Saturday April 11th, 1:00 at Gratis Fairview Cemetery. Celebration of life to follow at Marians Pizza Miamisburg.
