Obituary

Wayne Cornell Wright

March 31, 1947 – August 18, 2025

He graduated from Chaminade High School Dayton, Ohio in 1965. He served aboard the US Kittyhawk in the Navy during Vietnam. He was a beloved husband, son, brother, father, grandfather and great grandfather. 

He is survived by two great grandchildren, thirteen grandchildren, seven kids and his sister, Jamese Wright, eldest grandson (and his family) cared for him the last few years of his life with all their love. 

He is honored by his country for his dedication in a time of war. He was an avid sports fan. His sister and he would frequently go to Cincinnati Reds games or watch his favorite football teams (the Cincinnati Bengals and Kansas City Chiefs) on TV together. He loved grilling out with his eldest grandson, Jesse Lewis (and his family) or simply hanging out sharing stories with them. To most he was known as Wayne but to us he will always be Gpa.

There will be a memorial service with military honors held on Wednesday, August 27th, 2025 at 9:00AM at Dayton National Cemetery (4400 W. Third Street, Dayton, OH 45428). Send plant donations to Jamese at her home at 3103 Necessity Place Dayton, OH 45449.
