Obituary

Our cherished Shelly Renay Burch, age 51 of Troy, Ohio peacefully passed away in the comfort of Hospice of Troy on Sunday, December 7, 2025, surrounded by loved ones.

She was born on August 24, 1974, in Piqua, Ohio to Mark Burch and the late Linda Burch.  Shelly and her parents used to love to watch the tv program Dallas together.  They couldn’t wait for each weekly episode.  She was also a devoted fan of the Dallas Cowboys with her brother in law, Jeff Unger.  Both shouted and cheered them on as devoted team fans.   Laying out in the sun, listening to music with her mom, was a special time for just the two of them.  Shelly’s friends fondly called her mother, “Momma Burch”.  Shelly looked upon these simple pleasures with her family warmly.

Shelly and her older sister Mindy shared a special bond.  When disagreements arose between the two sisters, as all siblings know, their father would remind them that “sharing is fun”.  Her nickname “Bud” given by her father at an early age, was lovingly heard throughout her lifetime.

Shelly shared a special closeness to both her niece and nephew.  She often referred to them as “My Kids”.  She was Dustin’s first driving instructor.  He learned to drive as his Aunt Shelly taught him the rules of the road.  Shelly and Devyn enjoyed fashion and trying new styles.  Good memories remain of creating wonderful new looks together.  Devyn still has a special dress given to her many years ago, by her Aunt Shelly.

Shelly worked in public service most of her life.  She enjoyed close friendships which developed over the years to become lifetime friends.  Shelly, along with her immediate family and closest friends were baptized through what was formally known as the “True Vine Church”.  This single memorable moment meant everything to her, especially since those closest to Shelly were able to experience this glorious event together.

She is survived by her sister Mindy Unger (Jeff Unger) of Piqua.
Niece Devyn Meeds (TJ Meeds) of Troy, Ohio.
Nephew Dustin Carr (Sammi Carr) of Piqua, Ohio.
Great Nephew’s Harley Meeds and Chance Meeds of Troy.

Shelly’s memories live on with her many aunts, uncles and cousins who remember her growing years and will miss her.  The Burch family would like to thank Hospice of Troy for their dedication and care of Shelly.

All of Shelly’s friends and family will forever “put our head on Shelly’s heart”, quote by Chance Meeds age 4.
