Obituary
Seth M. Elling, 33, passed away on January 22, 2024.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Penny England, and step-father, Oren England, and survived by his father, Ronald Elling, his sister, Shantelle Elling-Burkett, and his brother, Scott Elling.
Seth graduated from Hardin Northern High School in the class of 2008. He was recently going back to school to get his social worker degree.
Seth was smart, talented, warm, loving, and resilient person. He loved Ohio State University football and watching his Browns play with friends. He enjoyed being the baby of the family and all the perks that went with it. Seth lost his life to a drug overdose, but his addiction didn’t define him. He had so many hopes, dreams, and goals. He wanted nothing more than to be clean and sober. He working towards his social worker degree, so he could help others that were going through the same struggles as him. Despite the love and support of his family and friends, Seth wasn’t able to overcome/win his 18-Year battle with addiction. Please remember him for the beautiful soul he was, the joy he brought into our lives, and the potential that was so tragically cut short. This disease can happen to ANYONE, it doesn’t care about borders, race, economic status, or religion, so if you or someone you know needs help, please call (800) 662–4357. If just one person‘s life can be saved by telling Seth’s story and struggles, then we want it told hundred times.
A Celebration of Life event for Seth is planned for Sunday, January 28, 2024, 2:00 – 4:00 PM at the Glickler Funeral Home 1849 Salem Ave., Dayton, OH 45406.

I’m so sorry to read about Seth. My thoughts go out to the family. Seth sounds like a beautiful soul whose life was cut so short due to addiction, it can be unthinkable and devastating. I didn’t know Seth or his family but my heart aches for you. Sincere thoughts and many prayers to you all.
