Obituary

It is with great sorrow and a heavy heart that we announce the passing Robert V. Ellis of Kettering OH, on May 26, 2024 at the age of 77. Robert known by “Bob” and “Sam” by loved ones, was a loving Husband, Father, Son, Brother, Grandfather, Great-Grandfather, and Friend.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Bessie Ellis; older brother, Arthur “Butch” Ellis JR; twin- brother, Thomas Ellis [Mary-Jo]; step-son, Brian Chrisman; and grandson, Kevin Jackson. Bob is survived by his wife, Marilyn Ellis; sisters, Beverly Heinisch and Kathy Allen; six children, Robert Ellis JR [Michelle], Laurie Stites [Matt], Laura Thornhill, Lisa Anderson, Christine Keith, and Sheri Anderson; grandchildren, Amber, Craig, Kayla, Heather, Justin, Hannah, Mazzie, Madison, Brittney-Peace, Emmie, Lindsay, Myah, Olivia, Johnny, and AJ; and numerous great-grand children.

Bob spent his working years in the printing industry and retired from Quebecor World. He was also a proud member of the American Legion Post #598.

Bob was known for his easy smile, unique sense of humor, and being unapologetically himself. A die-hard Browns and OSU football fan, Bob never missed a game. In his younger years, Bob enjoyed playing golf and was an exceptional bowler. He remained a Golf and NASCAR (#3) enthusiast throughout his life.

Bob was also known for his willingness to help anyone in need and was there for his family at a moment’s notice. Sam/Bob was our rock and his loss has left a hole in our family which will never be filled. Mr. Chicken Legs will be missed deeply and thought of often.

Please join us in celebrating the life of this amazing man who has touched the hearts of so many. Event will take place on June 7th, 2024 at the American Legion#598 located at 5700 Kentshire Dr, Kettering, OH 45440 from 4pm – 8pm. Please feel free to bring a picture or story to share.
