Obituary
Lester “Les” Howard Jr. of Spring Valley, Ohio passed peacefully on March 10, 2025. He was born in Hazard, Kentucky to the late Lester Sr. and Freda Howard.
Les was a devoted husband to wife Dorine (who passed in 2011). They shared over 35 years together. He was a loving father to Kenny (Leigh), Theresa (Shane), Keith (Glori), Glenda (Jimmy) and Tim. A proud Papaw to Shaela, Lacy, Shelby, Nikki, Christopher and Miranda, as well as many great grandchildren, including one named Ivan Howard in his honor
Les was a proud graduate of Northridge High School (Class of 1963), where he was a runner on the track team. Les spent most of his working career at Delco Products retiring in the mid 90’s at age 49.
Les was a social member of V.F.W. Post 6560 and The American Legion Post 746 where he volunteered his time and had many friends. He had a deep love for animals and enjoyed camping, fishing by the pond, road trips, music and dancing–where he was known for his moves. He loved classic tunes, with George Thorogood’s “Bad to the Bone”, T.G. Sheppard’s “Party Time”, and Slim Harpo’s “Rainin’ in My Heart” among his favorites. He also had a passion for yard games especially Jarts and Cornhole. Les had an incredible memory and never forgot a name, place or date. He will truly be remembered for his sharp wit and humor. He would often say “If I wanted patience, I would have been a doctor”.
Les was preceded in death by his loving wife Dorine, son Tim, and brothers Bill and Michael Leroy. He leaves to cherish his memory daughters Theresa (Shane), and Glenda (Jimmy). Sons, Kenny (Leigh), Keith (Glori). Sister, Nola, brothers Ed (Cindy) and Stan and a host of extended family and friends.
The family would like to gratefully acknowledge the caring staff of Hospice of Dayton.
Arrangements entrusted to Glickler Funeral Home (Dayton, Ohio). There will be no local services. A Celebration of Life will be planned in Texas for family and friends at a future date. Condolences can be shared at glicklerfuneralhome.com .
As for his daughter Theresa, Les was the love of her life and the greatest Dad that ever lived. His memory will be forever cherished.
