Obituary

Kenneth A. Ruggles, recently passed away at his home on July 26, 2025 at the age of 83. At the time of his death, he was enjoying a full life, while living independently, in his home of many years in Dayton, Ohio. He is survived by his sister, Virginia (Ginny) DeRoze and his two nieces, Lynne Avdellas and Dianne DeRoze who all live in Leesburg, Virginia. He leaves behind his companion Sue King, who lives in Florida, and longtime friend George Zahara from Dayton. He is predeceased in death by his brother-in-law Barry DeRoze and his parents, Kenneth and Dorothy Ruggles. He worked his entire career at Dayton Power and Light as an Account Specialist.  He retired in 2001 and has been busy taking care of his family, friends, and neighborhood cats. He has actively participated in a wide range of Dayton activities including attending Dayton Dragons baseball games and seeing shows at the Beavercreek Community Theater and the Wright Street Theater.  Ken kept meticulous records and diligently documented the Ruggles family history. He walked 8 miles a day up until his passing. He was an avid reader, closely followed the news, and listened to a wide range of music. He was a collector of DVD sets and enjoyed everything about computers and electronics. He also enjoyed the Dayton Daily News and wrote numerous letters to the Editors about various topics and always challenged them to keep their reporting balanced whether it be about sports or politics. Ken will be greatly missed by all who had the blessing of knowing him. May his memory be eternal!
