Obituary

With deep sorrow, we announce the sudden passing of our beloved Daughter, Sister, Aunt, and Friend, Julie Elizabeth Ruchman. Born on July 12, 1965, Julie passed away on May 20, 2026, leaving her family and friends heartbroken.

Julie was remembered for her quick wit, warm humor, and remarkable gift for storytelling. She had a special way of turning ordinary moments into cherished memories that brought laughter and joy to everyone around her.

Julie embraced life with passion and joy. She was especially proud of her nephews—Brad, Bryce, and Heath—and loved sharing their accomplishments and adventures with family and friends. She also treasured time with her 21-month-old niece, Logan. Julie was a devoted fan of The Ohio State University, and on game days she could always be found in her OSU sweatshirt or T-shirt, enthusiastically cheering on the Buckeyes, whether on TV or on her phone.

Julie was preceded in death by her mother, Linda Wasserman Ruchman. She is survived by her father, Marshall (Judy Aronoff) Ruchman, and her brothers, John (Bibsy) and Todd (Cindy) Ruchman.

A graveside funeral service will take place at Riverview Cemetery (1809 West Schantz Avenue, Dayton, Ohio) at 12:00 p.m. on May 24. The service will also be livestreamed on YouTube through Temple Israel Dayton. A Minyan Service will follow at 3:00 p.m. at the home of Larry Glickler and Charles Quinn (501 David Parkway, Kettering, Ohio). A Celebration of Life is tentatively scheduled for July 12 in Atlanta, with details to follow.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Julie’s memory may be made to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Fund. Those interested in participating in the Celebration of Life may contact Judy Eichel at Judyeichel6@gmail.com.

Julie’s memory will remain a blessing to all who knew and loved her.

I was Julie’s neighbor for a number of years in Atlanta. We had so much fun walking the neighborhood and going out to dinner. You could always count on her if you need a good laugh, a ride, or a friend. She gave all of us so many rides we said we were calling Juber! Julie will be missed by so many!

Fond memories of julie! She was just always everything wonderful. A dear friend lived Nextdoor to her for 22 years. I had the great pleasure of knowing her and spending lots of time with her! She always had me laughing! Her memory is truly a cherished blessing! My love to her family in this sudden and immeasurable loss. Memory eternal.

I went to THE Ohio State University and Julie Ruchman was in my sorority AEPhi. Let me tell you about all the fun we had, I could write a book! Julie made living in the house a comedy show daily! I loved recently getting random phone calls from her what was that song we use to listen to? lol. I saw she voted for some girl on American Idol, I texted her in March and said dont vote for her vote for my friend Jake and then we had a few texts back and forth, never thinking it would be the last one. I will miss you Julie Ruckels you were my pal and AEPhi sista…just so heartbroken . May her memory be a blessing. Thoughts to her family.
