Obituary

Joseph James Overbeck, 36, of Dayton, Ohio, passed away on May 18, 2026. Born on February 8, 1990, in Brookhaven, New York, Joseph brought light and love to all who knew him.

He is survived by his father, Joseph Roth; his mother, Penny Overbeck; his stepmother, Jenna; his sister, Jessica Roth, and her husband Michael; his cousins Justen, Buddy, Jackie, Jarod, Joshua, Gary, Charles, Cory and Cody; his fiancée, Greta; his step-son, Anthony; and his beloved daughter, Rowan Belle. He is preceded in death by his aunt Carolyn, uncle Gary, grandmother Velma, grandfather Gary, his great- uncle Sam, his cousin Christina, his Grammy and great-aunt DD, Joseph now joins them in eternal peace.

Joseph had a zest for life that was evident in everything he did. He found joy in the simple pleasures of life- sipping Monster Energy drinks while immersing himself in video games and took pride in honing his skills in knife collecting and ax throwing. Above all else, he cherished the time spent with his fiancée Greta and doted on his pride and joy, Rowan Belle.

Those who knew Joseph will forever remember his smiling eyes and contagious laugh. His kindness knew no bounds—he was the type of man who would give you the shirt off his back without hesitation. His love for family and friends was unwavering, and he carried a light within him that brightened every room he entered.

Greta, the love of Joseph’s life, shared these heartfelt words:
“He was my North, my South, my East and West,
My working week and my Sunday rest,
My noon, my midnight, my talk, my song;
I thought that love would last for ever: I was wrong.”

Joseph’s memory will live on in the hearts of those who loved him. May the warmth of his spirit bring comfort to all who mourn his loss.
