Obituary
Floyd Stanford Johnson, age 69, a lifelong resident of Dayton, Ohio, departed this life on Tuesday, June 2, 2026, in the Kettering Health ICU at Grandview Hospital following an unexpected visit to the ER on Memorial Day 2026. He was the spoiled and adored baby boy of his family. Born on October 22, 1956, to the late Willie C. and Ida Belle (Birdsong) Johnson. Floyd Stanford is a graduate of Paul Lawrence Dunbar High School, class of 1974, and received many Dean’s list honors while attending Sinclair Community College. Known for his quiet persona, he was a loving and caring son, brother, husband, grandfather, uncle, and friend. Floyd was a faithful follower of the word of God and attended Church services with his wife, JoAnne, and father-in-law, the Bishop at Zion Baptist Church, up until Floyd’s stroke limited his ability to do so. He is preceded in death by 8 siblings, which include 4 older brothers, Willie W. (Marcia), Royal M., Martin L. (Sandra), Vernon C., and 4 older sisters, Florine Vance, Della D. Johnson, Barbara J. Patton (James), Anna P. Fields (Robert), and mother-in-law Frances Norton (Perry). Floyd Stanford never had any biological children and is survived by spouse JoAnne Johnson (Norton), 2 sisters Jaruth Durham-Jefferson (James E), and Jennette B Arnold, of Dayton, Ohio, sister-in-law Joyce Johnson, of Detroit, Michigan; his beloved father-in-law Bishop Clarence Norton, Jr.; Stepdaughters Shilite Cotton (Jimmy), Tamika Trapps (Dontate), 10 grandchildren; Da’Monte, Da’Vonnie, Joshua, Jarmarig, Negasi, Nalani, Khari, Koaha, Deneva, Davone, sister-n-law Angie Herman (Larry), aunt Louise Gordon, and a host of loving nephews and nieces, cousins, and friends. Floyd had a special relationship with his uncle, Bishop Joe, and “auntie” Tiny Bryant, as well as nephews Sterling Fields and Terrell Martin Johnson.
Memorial service to be held on Wednesday, June 24th, 2026 at:

*Family will arrive promptly at 11:00 AM and visitation will follow 11:30 – 12:30 PM, followed immediately by the memorial service commencing at 12:30 – 1:30 PM, with Bishop Joe Bryant officiating.
