Obituary
God called home his daughter, Edna Louise Nixon, on May 12th, 2024, at 84 years old. Edna was born in Cedarville, OH, on August 17th, 1939, to Flora Ellen and Orville Eden Miller. She was the youngest of seven, and the last of her family to be called home. Family meant the world to her. She was surrounded by loved ones during her peaceful transition to Heaven.
After her wonderful childhood in Ohio, Edna married Kenneth Vernon Nixon, in 1959, and moved to Michigan, where she raised her three daughters, but Ohio was always home. She moved back home to Ohio after retirement to take care of her sisters, and sister in laws, prior to their passing. A skilled seamstress and quilter, she loved to spend her time making beautiful quilts to share with her sisters, family and her church. Many times you could find her quilts beautifully displayed on the altar of her beloved church.
Edna was an avid country and gospel music fan, and enjoyed completing tasks to the sounds of Johnny Cash, or the Gaithers. She loved to spend time with all of her daughters, and traveling to see them. Until the last few years of her life, she would frequently travel to Michigan and Washington state to spend time with her daughters, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Edna was preceded in death by her beloved parents Orville and Flora Miller, and her dear siblings: William “Billy” Miller, Donald Miller (Hazel “Fern” Miller), Kenneth “Gene” Miller (Elizabeth “Betty” Miller), Alice Holt (Byron Holt), Dorothy Baker (Ralph Baker), and Georgia McClure (Roy McClure).
She is survived by her three precious daughters: Tami (Dennis) Louise Dwan, Bonni (James) Jo Farrell, and Penni Ellen (Adam) Elsesser, her cherished five grandchildren: Thomas James Kenneth Farrell, Megan Louise Parker, Nicholas Lawrence Eden (Katie) Farrell, Katie Elizabeth Grant and Anna Jo Ellen Farrell, and her treasured great-grandchildren: Kennady Louise Parker, Autumn Ruth Farrell and Nora Eden Farrell. She also adored spending time with her numerous nieces and nephews.
Edna loved the Lord with her whole heart, and there is no doubt that she is now resting in Heaven in the arms of Jesus. She was eagerly awaiting the day that she would be reunited with her family in Heaven. Now she is surely worshiping our Lord with her loving family by her side.
A memorial service in Edna’s honor will take place on May 18th, 2024 at Old Town Methodist Church, 1639 US-68, Xenia, OH, 45385 at 11 o’clock in the morning, with luncheon to follow for family and close friends at Xenia Community Center. Please send any donations in Edna’s honor to her long-time church, Old Town Methodist Church.
Edna’s final resting place will be at Fletcher Chapel Cemetery in Clark County, OH.
