Obituary

Edith M. Deming, age 92 of Kettering, Ohio, passed away on Monday, November 24, 2025.  She was born and raised in Furth, Germany to Karl and Louise Heinkelein.

As a child during World War II, Edith endured food shortages, air raids & was forced to live in tunnels for weeks at a time. However, she stated many times, “I wouldn’t change my childhood for anything.”  As a young woman, she fell in love and married Jack Deming, an American soldier. After giving birth to four children, she moved with her husband and children to the U.S., reluctantly leaving her life in Germany behind.  They lived in several states before settling down in Jack’s home state of Ohio.

In addition to being a wife & mother, she worked & retired from A. O. Smith in Tipp City, Ohio.  She loved swimming, embroidery, knitting, and reading. Her favorite past time was being a grandmother and spoiling her grand doggies horribly.  She loved baking bread & cookies, especially around Christmas for friends & neighbors.

She is survived by all of her children. Her loving and devoted daughters, Nancy Jasper and Patty (Gary) Snyder, were at her bedside when she passed away.  In addition to her children, she is survived by grandsons Steven Miller, Scott (Angie) Miller, and Garrett Miller. She has other family members here in the U.S. as well as Germany. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack B. Deming, her parents, and many other family members in Germany.
