Obituary
LITTON, Donald S., age 76, of Beavercreek passed away on Tuesday, August 18, 2026. Born in Darby Township PA on April 6, 1950 to Wilbur and Alice Litton and moved to Richmond IN when he was two years old. He is survived by his wife, Jennifer Grommon Litton, and their three children, Catherine, Delta, and Nick Litton; his sister Nancy (Rusty) Wickham; his niece-in-law Angie and children Olivia, Gavin, and Garrett. He is preceded in death by his parents and his nephew, Scott DeHaven.
Don was a proud Boilermaker, graduating from Purdue University in 1972 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering. He co-oped at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base during college and accepted a permanent position there upon graduation, tirelessly working in the Electronic Warfare technical area for the A-10, F-15, B-2, and numerous other aircraft. He retired in 2002 after the birth of his and Jennifer’s first child so he could be a stay-at-home dad, a role he relished with all three children.
Don was a true engineer and loved tinkering with anything, often designing items to make home life easier, such as a motor to automatically open and shut the blinds at preset times. A regular at the annual Hamvention in Dayton, Don took great pleasure in finding and/or negotiating deals on things he probably didn’t need but could find useful, and had fun chatting with all the vendors. He was skilled at woodworking and often found items at garage sales (another passion of his) that needed a bit of repair or refinishing. Don enjoyed the outdoors immensely, spending numerous vacations backpacking and camping in the western states, and delighted in sharing this love of the outdoors with his family. He will be missed by his family, their rescued cats, and many friends.
A private memorial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations in Don’s name can be made to Blue’s Mews Siamese Cat Rescue, Dayton OH.

I’m sad that my cousin Don is gone. He was the smart one and he was fun. I’ll miss him.

Don and I were roommates in McCutcheon Hall at Purdue. He was a groomsman in our wedding and our kids knew him as “uncle Don”. Our friendship was the longest running friendship in my life. We rubbed each other constantly in good humor and with love. I’ll miss him.

Don was my project engineer for the ALE-45 chaff and flare dispenser for the F-15 aircraft, which we were developing in the early 80s. We made many trips to Austin Tx to Tracor and to Eglin AFB during the flight test of the system. He was a very good engineer who always had the best interests of the USAF in mind. He was a pleasant person who always made traveling fun. Being in the military, I lost touch with Don after leaving WPAFB and moving several times (before cellphones and the internet). Upon returning to WPAFB in the early 2000s we reconnected and were able to converse several times but we never made time to get together (which I regret). Don used to hold a summer swim party at his Beavercreek condo which I was able to attend a couple of times. Fun times! He will be missed.

I worked with Don from 1997-2001 in the Reconnaissance & Electronic Warfare SPO at WPAFB. He was a good friend with an inquisitive mind and a gentle nature. I lost contact with him after he retired early to become a stay-at-home dad but was fortunate to re-acquaint with him a few years ago. We enjoyed several fun lunches together before his illness reminiscing about our WPAFB days. My sincere sympathies to Jennifer and the family. Rest in peace Don.
