Obituary

Danny L. McDermott, age 60, passed away peacefully on February 14, 2026. A native and resident of Dayton, Ohio, Danny lived a life marked by devotion, hard work, humor, and heart.

Danny learned the HVAC trade at a young age and remained passionate about his work throughout his life. He took pride in fixing what was broken and was always ready to lend a helping hand. Known for his friendly smile and playful sense of humor, Danny had a way of making people feel welcome and valued.

The greatest joy of his life was his beloved wife, Alicia, his partner and soulmate of 30 years. Their marriage was built on deep love, loyalty, and unwavering devotion. She was truly the love of his life, his confidante, and his constant source of strength.

Danny was a loyal and true friend who treasured his friendships. Those who knew him knew they could count on him. He valued family deeply, adored his dog, loved all genres of music (and knew every lyric), and found peace and adventure during ice fishing trips to St. Mary’s Lake in Canada.

Through life’s challenges, he maintained an optimism that inspired others and chose, time and again, to take the high road. He accepted life’s journey with courage and an open heart. He leaves behind a legacy of kindness, laughter, and devotion that will continue to live on in all who knew and loved him. He will be deeply and forever missed.

Danny was preceded in death by his parents, Anna and Lawrence McDermott; his sister, Patricia McDermott; and his brothers, Patrick McDermott and Cecil McDermott.

He will be lovingly remembered by his devoted wife and soulmate of 30 years, Alicia McDermott; his sister, Marie (Charlie) Frank; his brother, Timothy (Bonnie) McDermott; his many nieces and nephews who were dear to him; and countless cherished friends.

A memorial service and reception will be held Sunday, March 1, 2026, at 4:00 p.m. at Amvets of Kettering Post 2003, 2250 Patterson Road, Dayton, Ohio.
