Obituary

Amy Jo Epstein, a Mom first and foremost.

Amy Jo Epstein, 56, passed away peacefully on April 4, 2026, in Troy, Ohio, surrounded by love.

Born and raised in Dayton, Amy’s children remember her as a mother first, always—bighearted, quick to laugh, and full of love for her children and her family. Incapable of inauthenticity, Amy was always deeply herself, and taught her children to be the same.

Amy Jo found joy in the little things—music playing in the background, birds passing by, and flowers in bloom. She had a way of appreciating life in its simplest, most beautiful moments. One of her favorite things was going to see her favorite band, 311, with her daughter—memories that will always be held close.

She is pre-deceased by her parents, Patricia and Morton Epstein, as well as her grandparents Kitty and Zimmel Miller, who were major influences on her life. She is survived by her brother, Joseph Epstein; her daughter, Sarah Wick; her son, Jimmy Elliott; her twin boys, Nate and Danny Smith; along with additional family Shelly Simpkins, Grandma Betty Hatton and Bill Hatton, and all of her grandchildren who meant the world to her.

She wasn’t perfect, but she was real, and she was deeply loved. And she loved in her own way—one that will stay with her family forever.

Though our hearts are broken, we find comfort knowing she is finally at peace.

She will be missed more than words can say, and she will always be with us.
